Daily Schedule

Indianapolis Met has a 8:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Monday-Friday, school day for students. The school year runs from August through June with summer immersion programs to help new students learn about the school culture, design and expectations.

Our week is divided into school days on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and internship days on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Each school day begins with a 30-minute Pick-Me-Up that includes announcements, motivational speakers or student presentations.

Students then go to their classrooms, called advisories, where they meet for an hour for small-group learning activities. Students work on independent projects until lunch. In the afternoon, students participate in reading groups, workshops, committees and other activities or continue with project work.

Advisories reconvene for the last half hour of the day. On internship days, students are either at their internships or engaging in a wide variety of activities related to finding an appropriate internship. These activities include interest exploration, informational interviews and job shadows.

 Extracurricular activities

Students are encouraged to participate in afterschool activities that are determined by the interests of students. These activities begin each fall. Many activities are offered in cooperation with the Goodwill Youth Learning Center and the 21 st Century Community Learning Center Program and other community partners.

In addition, Indianapolis Met staff work through partnerships with local athletic and cultural arts organizations to accommodate individual students who want to participate in interscholastic athletics and organized arts performance groups.

This year, students have organized a step teams, peer mediation teams and student ambassadors, three-on-three basketball tournaments, student government and community service project teams.
